This Week at Disney World: August 1 to 7

Happy August! This is the first of my weekly briefs: a quick rundown of what's actually happening at Disney World this week, so you can plan (or daydream) like you live here. Grab an iced coffee and let's go.

In the parks this week

The big one: Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party starts Thursday, August 7. Yes, Halloween begins in the first week of August, and honestly I think that's wonderful. The first parties of the year are usually the cheapest and least crowded of the whole run, and they do sell out. If a party night could fit your trip, grab tickets now, then read my full party game plan.

Also happening: Extended Evening Hours are back on select nights this August. If you're staying at a Deluxe resort, you get two extra hours in the park after everyone else heads home. It's my favorite perk on property and worth planning a night around.

And looking one week ahead: D23, Disney's big fan event, runs August 14 to 16. Expect park announcements. I'll recap everything that matters the weekend it happens.

On the snack radar

Halloween treats start creeping into the parks alongside the first party dates, so keep an eye out for the first pumpkin and poison-apple themed goodies this week. The reliable order while you hunt: a Dole Whip in the Adventureland shade. It is 95 degrees out there. Which brings me to...

What I'd wear

It's peak Florida summer, so this week is all about breathable fabrics: flowy dresses, athletic shorts, moisture-wicking everything. I'm doing light colors during the day and saving my darker Halloween looks for party nights. If you need ideas, my latest park outfits are all on the Ears & Outfits page, and most of them link straight to where I got each piece.

One planning tip

August afternoons bring a thunderstorm almost daily, usually between 2 and 5pm. Don't let it wreck your day: plan an indoor show, a long lunch, or a resort break for that window, then enjoy the parks after the rain clears them out. The post-storm evening is quietly one of the best times to ride everything. My Itinerary Builder builds days with exactly that rhythm.

See you next week! ✨
